OUR ALOHA STORY
2013, soon after we got married,
we moved to Maui from Waikiki
as my husband got a great offer
But 2016 before Christmas,
an unexpected sad thing happened
and he had to leave the job.
We lost our way of living.
All we wanted was to stay and live
on this beautiful island.
Then we decided to have our own Restaurant
so we could live here
But we had no money and couldn’t get a loan.
Then we were at a loss again.
Our families living in Japan lent us the money.
Thanks to their big love
we could go through the challenging times
And about one year later, on February 11, 2017
our hope came true.

ABOUT CHEF MANABU & SATOE

He was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan
Moved to LA in 1991
He worked at many restaurants
in LA and JAPAN to improve his skills.
*Hama Restaurant in Venice Beach
*Suhiroku in Santa Monica & Beverly Hills
*XEX in Tokyo
After that he moved to Waikiki in 2009
and got a great offer from Morimoto Maui in 2014
He left the job two years later
Chef puts his soul into every little piece
with over-30-years experience.

I was born and raised
in ”TOGOSHI” in Tokyo, Japan.
I had been a high school teacher for 10 years
but the last year of teaching
I experienced serious panic disorder
because of too much work.
In 2012, I reconsidered of my life.
I met Manabu who lived in Waikiki
The next year I got married to him
and moved to Waikiki from Japan
10 months later I moved to Maui
I was a happy housewife.
But Maui gave me a challenge in life
and I turned into an owner
of a small sushi restaurant in Paradise.

We put small flowers grown in Maui
on every table so that you feel ALOHA.

We’re always thinking how to make you smile

Since 2020 Maui has had difficult situations
and unfortunately some places closed the door
including our favorite place…
We feel… it’s a miracle to keep our place open
in this situation
We also have had difficulties but
luckily our restaurant is surrounded
by lots of LOVE and ALOHA SUPPORT
from especially our regular customers
I really appreciate it
from the bottom of my MANA (=SOUL)
